Since 1948, they’ve produced the first ever microgroove phonograph cartridge. Well, they did it under the Pickering name, not Stanton. In addition to this, they’ve pioneered more cartridges and stylus’ than anyone in the business and are an old standby for DJ stylists and audiophiles alike.

In our opinion, while Stanton does make a high quality product, they’re more aimed towards DJ and Club style turntables for scratching and so forth. The audio quality is great – don’t get me wrong, just not audiophile great. Most have a spherical stylus (which you normally find on DJ decks for the low record burn) and high output and frequency range. However, this isn’t optimal for casual listening either. Something from Technics would probably suit most listeners and enthusiasts better, and wallets too (they are cheaper).

However, that being said, we urge you to check them out for yourself, visit your local pro audio shop and they’ll have one on a deck for listening, for sure.
